“I think there's a sense of freedom and exhilaration in cycling, especially in Mountain Biking that is just so great! Also, you get to explore so many unique places that are normally just not accessible to vehicles sometimes.”.
“I've learnt that the Human body is capable of huge limits and that our spirit is indomitable. I do what I put my mind to, no matter how arduous that seems.”
While most forms of sports can be good for mental health, cycling in particular is more therapeutic than others. When it’s just you and your cycle, one tends to find time to reflect and introspect. For sure it is one sport, which helps elevate the mood.
“I'm no motivator. I'm just an athlete doing his job and following his passion. If my lifestyle does bring motivation to some, I'm glad.”
Coming from India, which obviously does not boast of any existing infrastructure for Mountain Biking, his road quite literally has not been an easy one. According to him, the international MTB community has played in his career. Moreover, MTB is an expensive sport, and with financial back up and no regular income from the sport, it sure has been an adventure for Shiven.
“It is my responsibility to take the Indian flag to new heights in the sport. I see myself representing India at the world level in the next 5 years and hopefully fighting for the podium.”
